Created by the American producer/sound engineer Mark Johnson, this CD/DVD seeks to unify musicians from all over the world by using the universal language of music. This set entertains with novel renditions of classic songs like "Love is My Religion" and "One Love," while the DVD's strong visuals illustrate the unique tapestry of performers brought together to deliver this powerful message of unity and love. The album ends with what has become the project's signature song, "Stand By Me." When Mark Johnson first heard Roger Ridley singing "Stand By Me" in the street, he wanted to share this man's soul and passion with the world. Playing For Change transformed Mr. Ridley from an obscure street musician into part of a global phenomenon. He personifies the hopes and dreams this album has been able to make come true.
